So! I watched my first livestream of the episode for this one, and watched it twice in a row, and I cannot, in good faith, geek out about it the way I normally do. Information overload! So just a quick thing about things that struck out.

Spoilers

*Uh...Lyra spoke. And she apparently is close enough friends with Princess Cadance that she is a bridesmaid. I don't even....
*Vinyl Scratch - we saw her eyes. That mystery is now laid to rest
*This felt a lot like The Little Mermaid to me before the Changeling revealed itself. My Little Pony, the musical! And that one song Cadence sang sounded SOO familiar, and I just can't place it.
*Not sure how I feel about Cadance, but she's there, soooo~~~yeah.
*And how weak are these Princesses?!? Princess Celestia defeated so easily? Princess Cadance couldn't even move that train cart track type thing....she has MAGIC! Ugh.
*And defeating the enemy with her love....okay, then! It IS a show for little girls.
*AJ with her hat - how cute!
*Sibsy's OC in the episode? Hell yeah.
*Pinkie Pie attacking with her party canon? BEST. WEAPON. EVER! Not to mention the fact that she sneezes confetti.
*Heh, AJ, "Real me. REAL ME!" And Fluttershy pretending to be a changling? Go, Fluttershy!
*Epic fight scene...always good.
*For once, the Elements of Harmony didn't defeat the epic bad guy.
*And does epic bad guy have a name?
*So many things. Twilight's parents making a second appearance! That was sweet.
*The bouquet gag - both times
....okay, too many things keep coming to mind....sooooo, let me end here, and ask...what was YOUR favorite part, what did you find notable, what did you think of Shining Armor and Princess Cadance (or her Mary Sue name - Princess Mi Amore Cadenza), how's you like the episode, and how do you feel now that Season 2 is over?

Yes! Lyra spoke! She has a cute voice. I also thought it was weird how she is friends with her, but metaphorically speaking I like the idea of "love" and "music" going together. Assuming Lyra is a musical pony. My headcanon is she could probably play a Lyra/lyre/harp/stringed instrument and sing love songs and ballads like a pro. (Edit: Well I just looked it up but apparently Cadance: is a musical term meaning modulation, inflection rhythm, or the closing sequence of a musical phrase. So I suppose it makes sense that she'd be friends with a musical pony.)
I didn't notice Vinyl Scratch's eyes until I read the comments on Youtube and people were freaking out about the color. It wasn't something I cared too much about. But it is pretty awesome that it's magenta.
I thought her song was familiar too! I couldn't figure it out either, but I feel like I've heard it somewhere. It's going to drive me crazy until I know where that song came from.
We didn't see enough of Cadance, so it is hard for most Bronies to form a solid opinion of her. However, I do think because she's a pony about love, she's very affectionate and sweet... at least it appeared to be that way with Shining Armor and Twilight... and even the other mane 6 when she was enjoying her wedding preparations. I like her overall.
Yeah, I thought it was silly about how weak the princesses were here too. However, I'm going to be analytical and find a way to make it all justifiable. XD Ok, so to begin with we don't really know what kind of powers Cadance has. We only witnessed her using her love powers and levitate a bouquet a few times in the episode, making it difficult to figure out if she actually knew anything else except being able to harness love. I don't think we can assume that because she's part of the royal family that she's all powerful or have an offensive magical power like Celestia and Luna. I mean it's like Twilight and Rarity...Twilight can kick some ass, but I don't recall Rarity ever using her horn to fight or so. Second, Cadance had been locked away in the underground caves for a while, which was made apparent by her appearance and her grasp of the situation. She KNEW about the imposter's plan from the get-go. So while she's been trapped down there for who knows how long, she's been desperate and worried for the love of her life. She probably wasn't thinking straight when it came to the mining cart. To her, Shining Armor is being tricked by an imposter. He's in trouble and she has to get to him before it's too late. (VERY Littler Mermaid right there.) I mean, she was pretty much crying her heart out thinking about him as she pushed on the cart, you know. It was a good scene for Twilight to realize how much Cadance really loved her BBBFF. Now as for Princess Celestia... the only reason why the Queen Changeling was more powerful was because of the amount of love she consumed from Shining Armor. Shining Armor apparently loved Cadance so much that it made her so much more powerful. Is it cheesy-borderline-bull-crap? In my opinion hell yes, I mean come ON it's freaking Celestia! However, I think the point of it was that love is supposed to be a truly powerful force to be reckoned with. Plus it proved to me that Shining Armor really did love Cadance a whole lot.
Defeating her with love. YES the most cheesy thing in the history of forever. But it IS a show for little girls. I say teaching them that love can conquer all is a good message to brainwash everyone with.
Sibsy's OC?

All right, so my favorite part... I actually loved the ending. The part where Cadance joined in with the wedding preparations and we saw her interactions with the other ponies... and that ending song Twilight sang when they did their first dance. (brb gross sobbing.
The part when Twilight accuses the imposter of being evil made me both laugh and cry at the same time. The way she was saying evil made me giggle a bit... but then when everyone walked out on her and she sang that little heartbroken song I sobbed a little. Like, HOW CAN YOU DOUBT TWILIGHT OMG YOU ARE ALL SUCH HORRIBLE PONIES! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE FRIENDS.
The fighting was exciting. I was surprised that they went through all that trouble only to fail getting the elements of harmony... though kinda glad because I would have been more upset if they did use the elements of harmony. Been there done that, bring on the magical force field of two ponies in love!
Any way, so my thoughts on this episode:
~Why are we only finding out about Shining Armor now? Was he planned late or something? His appearance feels way too abrupt considering he's supposed to be part of Twilight's family for goodness sake.
~Shining Armor is the captain of the royal guard... yet the only magic we've seen him use as create a defensive shield bubble thing around Canterlot. It's impressive, but the whole time I kept thinking, "Where's your awesome fighting magic?" Princess Celestia could totally kick his ass.
~I don't like Twilight's nickname "Twili" It just doesn't sound right to me.
~Anyone else LOL when Luna appeared at the end asking if she missed anything? Made me think that Cadance was NOT her daughter like many people were guessing. I mean if Luna was her mom, she wouldn't have missed her own daughter's wedding. Oh, and she wasn't screaming! O_O
~When they were doing their love magic attack and the Changeling Queen was just standing there I kept thinking, "OH I'M TOTALLY GOING TO IGNORE YOU AND THE POSSIBLE THREAT YOU ARE SO I CAN WATCH MY MINIONS EAT LOVE IN THE CITY BECAUSE YOU KNOW, I TOTALLY DON'T WANT TO SURVIVE THIS ONCOMING ATTACK YOU'RE POWERING UP."
~Rarity at the end - I so laughed.
~Andrew Francis the guy who voiced Shining Armor is the same guy as Kento of Hard Rock in Ronin Warriors.
I wasn't too worried about the end of season 2 until you told me that season 3 might be limited. D8 Now I'm kinda worried about it. Though I really do doubt that Hasbro would give up this project when it's so darn popular. And if they are, well, good luck because I think it'll be too hard to top this generation of ponies. Seriously. Ok, gonna end this now because your eyes are probably bleeding from all this text. D8 I'm sorry~
This episode had it everything that wedding needed even if it wasn't casual.
Sad the season's over but at least i can watch them over and over again whenever should i need to watch it again, or when the new one comes out
If im honest this royal wedding was abit better than the one we had over here in the UK mainly because the mane 6 werent here setting it up and they didn't have Vinyl Scratch as the awesome DJ.
But it was a gooooood episode.
Still, an AMAZING episode! And how could I have forgotten Pinkie sneezing confetti? That was awesome! And Flutters pretending to be Changling was pretty badass too.
The official name of the Changeling Queen in the script was "Chrysalis", by the way!
And I for once actually didn't have a problem with the fact that Celestia was defeated. At least she SHOWED UP. I would've been pretty pissed if she wouldn't had a confrontation with Chrysalis at all. And it was explained pretty good why Chrysalis defeated her, since she's a Succubus and feeds off love, she got enough strength to overcome Celestia. And Chrysalis was even surprised about that too! Interesting detail: She said, that Equestria is, of all the other places she was, the one with the most love to feed off. So yeah, Equestria confirmed for lovey-dovey-country! No wonder we're shipping everypony with everypony.
I loved that Apple Fritter was in the background a lot. She's one of my favorite background mares.
I hope they plan to introduce the Big Brother ponies that they had in the 80s. YAY! More stallions!
